Inspiration Web Tip Sheet
Description:
Inspiration is a computer program that creates graphic organizers.
  1. Open Inspiration.
  2. Type your central topic in the Main Idea box (make sure the words Main Idea are highlighted).
  3. To add subtopics, click RapidFire button at top of screen. Type first subtopic, press Return. Type next subtopic, press Return. Repeat until done. Notice new ovals appear.
  4. To add details, click on one of the subtopics (oval is selected when red handles appear around it), click on a Create arrow at the top of the screen (there is a choice of eight), and type detail information. Repeat as needed. For each subtopic, make sure the subtopic oval is selected before adding a detail oval.
  5. To view in outline form, click Outline button at top of screen. This helps students organize their writing into paragraphs.
  6. You can customize your web by changing graphics and text.

    * To change the oval to a graphic, click on the oval and select a library of graphics by clicking on the down arrow on side toolbar and highlighting desired choice. Click on your graphic choice.

    * To change the text, triple click on the text. Go to the Format menu at the top of the screen to change font, size, and style. To change the color, select Text Color tool on bottom of screen and slide to desired color.

  7. To add student name, select Text Box Tool on bottom of screen. Make sure nothing is selected, then draw a text box. Type information.
